Sara Hickman at KUTX 7.23.13

Sara Hickman, multi-talented singer/songwriter, vocalist, and musician, has accomplished the difficult task of remaining relevant and in-demand in a town overflowing with musicians. Though she was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina, she moved to Austin in 1995, and we consider her one of our own. In fact, Texas loves her so much that the Texas Legislature named her an “official musician of Texas” from 2010-2011, joining a group that includes the incomparable Willie Nelson and Lyle Lovett. She has recorded 15 studio albums throughout her career, and famed artists such as Shawn Colvin, the Flatlanders, and Robert Earl Keen have covered her songs. She’s also an actively charitable citizen, having raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities including Dallas Dance for Life, House the Homeless, and Mother’s Milk Bank. Her latest album, “Shine,” was recorded in LA, and the new tunes are fun and whimsical.

The lovely artist performed live in our studio on Tuesday, July 23rd, and you can listen right here! You can also catch her at her CD release party this evening at Waterloo Records.
