You might have heard the news from Washington about public radio. As a new administration considers the federal budget, funding for public media is at risk. This will impact news stations like KUT, but it may also impact music stations like KUTX. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting negotiates music rights on behalf of public radio stations. Without that support, operating KUTX could become more costly. Over 85% of our funding comes from the community, and that support has never been more important. Please join today.

Letter from KUT & KUTX Director Stewart Vanderwilt

Over the years, listener support has given KUT and NPR the independence to report fearlessly and demand accountability.

We need your help again.

Independent journalism based on facts is incredibly important today. That’s why we are shortening the membership drive and asking for your support today. Yet, there’s a real threat that federal funding to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for public radio and television stations will be cut. This would eliminate federal funding for stations in local communities across Texas, including KUT. For us, it would mean a loss of close to $600,000 that we invest primarily in producing and delivering local content. I hope you will join us in keeping public media strong. The real news you count on from KUT and NPR, relies on the real support from listeners just like you.
