Middle Kids – “Dramamine”

Maile Carballo / KUTX

Each week during Left of the Dial, KUTX Music Director, Rick McNulty shares the best song he heard this week.

Sydneysiders Hannah Joy and Tim Fitz first met through mutual admiration. Soon afterward, Fitz produced Joy’s solo material. Their songwriting became increasingly collaborative, and they decided to officially join forces under the Middle Kids moniker. The chemistry was evident from the start, and their debut single “Edge of Town”, earned them extensive international recognition and a few high-profile fans like Elton John.

Middle Kids have continued to grow in their decade together, and their latest single suggests their best material may still be ahead of them.

“Middle Kids are about to have their moment. They’ve stockpiled three terrific songs for their next album, due to be released in February. Their latest single is a soaring love song with an humble declaration: ‘You are the only reason I believe in anything/ I hope you don’t take this the wrong way.'”
