What once started out as Americana folk blues has transformed itself into synth-heavy pop-rock – and it only took ten years! Hurray for the Riff Raff frontwoman Alynda Segarra’s life experience has undoubtedly lent itself to HftRR’s lyrical and sonic idiosyncrasies since debuting Crossing the Rubicon in 2007, but it’s only with the recent release of Hurray for the Riff Raff’s sixth album, The Navigator, that she fully explores her personal roots. Segarra (with a four-piece backing band) performed three tracks from The Navigator as Hurray for the Riff Raff in KUTX’s Studio 1A – check out the live version of “Hungry Ghost” below!
