Lucius at KUTX 1.29.14

Rolling Stone calls them, “the best band you may not have heard.” Paste Magazine calls their music infectious, keenly self-aware, and shamelessly authentic. We call it “perfect, magnetic pop music.” If you don’t know Lucius by now it’s time to familiarize yourself with the indie-rock-pop sensation. The group’s music is truly unique, but if it had to be described it has flares of 60’s-retro, country, folk, and indie-rock. Each song includes delicious vocal harmonies by the likes of two female vocalists, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig. The two met during their time at Berklee College of Music and bonded over a mutual love for Bowie, the Beatles, and soul. Their musical connection can be heard in their lush and clean harmonies, and also seen in their stage appearance and demeanor. The two perform with matching hair and outfits, which may not seem like it would have great effect, but truly adds an extra element of synchronicity and unity to their sound. The latest album, Wildwoman is chalk full of these luscious harmonies, and has catchy beats and playful rhythms to boot. Listen to our Lucius recording right here!
