There’s no shortage of indie-blues musicians in Austin, but none are quite like local lady Jackie Venson. Obsessed with music since the age of eight, Jackie’s been honing her craft at home, in pubs and on the road for years. Her stripped back, no frills performances don’t rely on flash to impress; she’s a girl, a guitar and the truth out on the stage. Her music is a superb mix of blues, rock, R&B and soul; all held together by introspective lyrics and raw emotion. Jackie is performing this week at 3Ten as part of Austin Music Foundation’s The Next; a fundraising mixer showcasing back-to-back performances by their inaugural Artist Development Program graduates. Tickets are $10 with proceeds benefiting the Austin Music Foundation. The evening will feature performances from artists like Magna Carda, Gina Chavez and Charlie Faye & The Fayettes, as well as a silent auction, drinks, food and other fun activities. Jackie stopped past Studio 1A to give a sneak peak of her performance on Wednesday, check out the full session below!
