Carson McHone: “Poet” (Live in Studio 1A)

This week, the Song of the Day features ACL Fest 2017 artists.

Austin singer-songwriter Carson McHone is the candid charm that country music has been cruising for.

Following the release of her debut self titled EP in 2013, McHone’s clever lyricism and brutally honest performance garnished critical acclaim and international support. A year after being selected as part of Project ATX6 in 2014, McHone released her sophomore solo record Goodluck Man while her vocals were featured on Shinyribs’ Okra Candy and Ray Wylie Hubbard’s “Chick Singer Badass Rockin”. Having already shared the stage with acts like Ryan Bingham, Jerry Jeff Walker, David Ramirez and more, McHone is set to perform this Friday at Austin City Limits Festival. There’s a good chance she’ll perform some tunes from her upcoming album recorded in Nashville along with Patty Griffin producer Mike McCarthy! In the mean time you can check out a performance of Poet from her time in Studio 1A, recorded just after the release of Goodluck Man.

You can see Carson McHone perform 12:30-1:15pm on Friday, October 6th at the Tito’s Handmade Vodka Stage at Austin City Limits Music Festival. You can also listen to her here on KUTX.
