Following the previous week and weekend’s Juneteenth festivities, there’s more to enjoy today with the Juneteenth Day of Freedom Celebration, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Antone’s, 305 E. 5th St. DJs Ash-Mar and Kay Cali take over the turntables for this special event, which features a panel discussion with the topic: “How To Keep the Creative Fire Burning While Facing the Realities of Being Black In America/In Austin.” The panel guests include some of our favorite music artists like Kalu James, Kam Franklin (The Suffers), and Magna Carda, as well as artist Richard Samuel (owner of Riches Art Gallery) and Raasin McIntosh (founder of nonprofit Raasin In The Sun). Plus local vendors and artisans will be on hand for shopping during happy hour libations.
