Chakra Kahn is just about ready to unleash the polychromatic psych-pop morphs of their forthcoming LP, Stillness is Motion, fueled by hues of arena-rock and aural trip-outs. But first thing’s first: Today’s Austin Music Minute offers a preview of their single, “Cracks,” just a sliver of what’s to come that will also feature an equally kaleidoscopic video to accompany it, directed by Alex Chod (Wonderbitch), with contributions from tripped-out projections dream wizard Bob Mustachio and animations artist Vahid Tehrani. Mind-bending can be so exhilarating.
The official “Cracks” single and video release is set for June 28th at the Mohawk, but you have a date with Chakra Kahn play tonight at The Electric Church, 5018 E. Cesar Chavez. They share the bill with The Oysters, YUMA, and Food Group.
The music starts at 10 p.m. And the Ether Wave Light Show will take it to the top. All trippy-dippy groovy good. Recommended.
