It arrived in a flash, and just as quickly, it’s nearly over. SXSW does leave us all at KUTX a bit winded, but what a way to go. From Nick Cave and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Stubb’s, to Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside and Thao and The Get Down Stay Down at the Four Seasons Hotel, it has all been a blast. And I, your humble Austin Music Minute maven, would like to offer a couple more recommendations before it’s time to call it a day. You’ve been good to me, SX. Here’s to more great memories.
The 4th Annual Good Dannys & The Navigational Society Day Party at The Parish, 214 E. 6th St.: Holy smokes, this thing keeps getting bigger and bigger, and it’s always an incredible mix of local talent and touring acts that producer Danny Reisch has worked with. Face it, he’s got great taste. Catch performances by What Made Milwaukee Famous, Black Taxi, Marmalakes, Brass Bed, Crooks, Slowtrain, David Ramirez, Dana Falconberry and many more. Remember that artists will be on the main Parish stage upstairs, and the new Parish Underground downstairs. Lots to check out. Dang, it’s all good. Get there nice and early at 10 a.m.
Austin Psych Fest and Yahoo Showcase at Brazos Hall, 204 E. 4th St.: It’s a little sample of all the great stuff to come with this year’s Austin Psych Fest at the end of April. The show bill includes A Place To Bury Strangers, The Zombies (that…is going to RULE), Night Beats, The UFO Club (featuring The Black Angels‘ Christian Bland and the Night Beats’ Lee Blackwell), Elephant Stone and Et Tu Bruce. The music starts at 8 p.m. Far out, man.
