We’re getting close to the finish line with ACL Fest 2015. It’s a grand weekend to go out and enjoy performances by Houndmouth, Jose Gonzalez, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and local band Sounds Del Mar today; and Dwight Yoakum, Kurt Vile and The Violators, Florence & The Machine (featured on today’s AMM), and local band KNIFIGHT tomorrow. Those are my Austin Music Minute picks for the last ACL Fest weekend for 2015.
Even if you’re not headed out to the fest, there are all kinds of lovely alternative events to enjoy. Get yourself out today to Empire Control Room, 606 E. 7th St., for Raw Paw‘s Ditch the Fest Fest 9. So much local talent taking over the Empire stages: Sphynx, Mindz Of A Different Kind, Milezo, The Deer, Cartright, Corduroi, Young Tongue and so many more. Doors open at 2 p.m.
And tonight, a grand finale for the Austin Corn Lover’s Fiesta at Hole In the Wall, 2538 Guadalupe, with sets by the original dirty rapper Blowfly, C#nto!, Pocket FishRmen, The Hares, and Peyote MX. It’s going to get wild.
