Sure, local R&B/blues rockers The Happen-Ins have been laying low for a bit, but for good reason – or, as the guys might tell you, “These changes take time, baby.”
Yes, there is a (sort of) line-up change for the time being. Longtime Happen-Ins mainstay Ricky Ray amicably took leave to pursue other musical projects, with guitarist Evan Charles (The Sweet Nuthin) stepping in to keep the ball rolling. But your Austin Music Minute maven heard firsthand that Ray will be returning soon enough, making The Happen-Ins a five-piece – one big happy rock family.
And there’s another reason the band’s been temporarily under the radar: There’s a new album they’re preparing for release, Glamour Shots. (The first track, “Truth,” was featured on today’s AMM.) Expect an official release date soon, but in the meantime, catch The Happen-Ins’ show tonight at the Mohawk, 912 Red River, on the inside stage. Looks like it’s wall-to-wall rock with Nic Armstrong and Jonas Wilson on the bill. Doors open at 9 p.m.
Bringing the Glamour straight to you. Recommended.
