You may have read my previous, unabashed rave about Mr. Dale Watson. If not, here’s a link for reference. Notice that I did not mince words, nor does Watson. I’m convinced that’s why Dale didn’t have to approach Letterman to be on his show. It was the other way around. Letterman invited him.
Watson is all about keeping it real through genuine roots music – hillbilly, before we knew it as country, along with honky tonk, rockabilly, western swing, and down-and-dirty, no-bull outlaw. The Austin Music Minute constantly refers to “old school country,” which, as Watson might tell you, is pretty much anything that isn’t something you’ll see on the Country Music Awards anytime soon.
Do yourself a favor and make your Monday night better by seeing Watson play tonight at The Continental Club, 1315 S. Congress Ave. He goes on at 10 p.m. sharp. And don’t be shy about telling him that the Austin Music Minute maven sent you. Recommended.
