AMM SXSW: Wednesday Showcases

Welcome to the continued SXSW adventures of the Austin Music Minute. True, this is that very time of year that multiple shows are pulling one’s brain in fifty different directions, but the AMM is offering a handful of picks to peruse. Go forth and conquer:

-It’s no secret that your Austin Music Minute maven is a huge Third Man Records geek (read: “Jack White fiend from hell”). Their roster is chock full of badass bands and songwriters, and at the top of the list is recently-signed artist Lillie Mae (her track “Over the Hill and Through the Woods” was featured on today’s AMM), whose solo album Forever and Then Some comes out next month. She’s part of a line-up tonight at Bar 96, 96 Rainey St., which also features Brooklyn-based band San Fermin and LA future-soul songwriter Banks.

-AMM mega-fave Matthew Logan Vasquez plays a big showcase at Bungalow, 92 Rainey St., that includes …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Tokyo Police Club and Jimmy Eat World.

Bloodshot Records is one of the best independent labels around. It would be wise to check out their killer showcase tonight at The Continental Club, 1315 S. Congress Ave. Another AMM fave, the mighty Scott H. Biram, shares the bill with Sara Shook & The Disarmers, Ha Ha Tonka, Banditos and more.

Casa de Ruido is presenting an awesome showcase at Half Step, 75 1/2 Rainey (dang…a lot of spots in the Rainey St. area in today’s AMM), which features Buenos Aires-based trio Las Kellies and Venezuelan disco/acid jazz/funk monsters Los Amigos Invisibles.

-Mad love for Austin label Super Secret Records, who teams up with Twistworthy Records for a killer showcase continuing tonight at Beerland, 711 Red River. John Wesley Coleman III, Evil Triplet, and Suspirians are among the must-see artists.
