The Austin Music Minute love-fest continues over local trio Crooked Bangs. It’s pretty much cut-and-dry with this band. Dark. Punk. Damn good. No nonsense. Frontwoman Leda Celeste Ginestra doing vocals in both French and English only adds to the allure, even though it’s really no big deal for her. Samantha Wendel slices on guitar while drummer Phil Gonzalez annihilates at rapid-fire pace.
Their self-titled 2012 LP is available on vinyl – a must-have for your collection, and you can see them play tonight at Beerland, 711 Red River. Orange County punk quartet Bad Antics headlines the show, and the bill includes sets by surf punks Eets Feats, Long Beach post-punk thrashheads Half Goon and hardcore outfit Waarface. Doors open at 9 p.m. Do it. So recommended.
