There’s a sliver of light in the shadows of Ruby Haunt.
Since their formation in 2015, LA duo Ruby Haunt (Viktor Pakpour and Wyatt Innins) has weaved a soundscape that paints very specific pictures in the mind. Darkwave and dreampop influences are the brushstrokes bringing this vivid imagery to life – a spectrum of melancholic, introspective, otherworldly twilight shades, greys from a mist and darkened skies. On 2023’s Between Heavens, more synth brings the irresistible gloom with an ethereal haze, but also – dare I say it? – a slightly brighter energy in tracks like “Rainbird” or “Cold Front.”
This month, Ruby Haunt launches a brief Texas tour with Austin noisegaze outfit Witches Exist. The first show is tomorrow night, Wednesday Feb. 21, at the Parish on Brushy St. Doors at 7:30 p.m.
