It makes perfect sense that Big Bill is near and dear to your Austin Music Minute maven’s dark heart. Anxious punk rawk, high-energy, in-your-face, good-time unleashed madness? Why, yes, in addition to vocalist Eric Bill‘s magnetic, frantic frontman persona drawing you into the frenzy. (Admittedly, your humble AMM host pines for the shows with the shock blond wig paired with that stark unibrow, calling to mind the smitten Helga from Hey Arnold!, but you never know. Might make an appearance at a later date.)
Following two EP’s (A Hard Days Bill, 2013; The Second Bill, 2015) and two 7-inches released last year, (Weird Walk/Mainly Manly and Every City/Food Chain), Big Bill is now at work on a debut LP. The AMM eagerly anticipates the new tracks, but for now, get your fix of Big Bill at their show tonight at Hotel Vegas, 1502 E. 6th St. Damn fine line-up at that, with The Lochness Mobsters, Leather Girls, and Mean Jolene. So good.
