It’s official: Your friendly neighborhood Austin Music Minute maven chalks one up for The Blackheart as a favorite venue. And tonight is just one of many reasons why. It’s one of those triple bill evenings. All local bands, all lots of fun:
– Garage, psych, punk, surf and rock? Hell, put it all on the table. Shake it in the shaker. Take it and run. Those Howlings headline the evening (their track “Dip It In” from their 2013 EP is featured on today’s AMM).
– Who knows what lurks within the minds of these stoner-punk hoodlums? Better yet, they’ll probably tell you themselves, “Who cares?!” The RIPS serve it up with a bit of garagey psych-rock. Favorite track from their 2013 EP Big Deal: “Hey Slick.” (True story: That’s exactly what your AMM hostess tactlessly blurted out to Russell Crowe when he was in town some years back. Wow. That was a massive stink eye, all right.)
– Don’t be shy about dancing. They won’t have it. Super tasty melodic mega-pop and sun-shiney goodness courtesy of Kazi.
It’s a grand night tonight at The Blackheart, 86 Rainey St. Doors open at 8 p.m. Soak in the awesome atmosphere and check out these bands. So recommended.
