All one has to do is listen to Mobley‘s EP Some Other Country in its entirety to discover there are multiple influences fueling Mobley’s incredible R&B energy, but it’s not just other musical genres.
The Austin-based multi-instrumenal artist takes inspiration from everything around him affecting his senses, all the sounds, textures and shapes he may encounter on any given day, every environment he’s exposed to. And from this multi-sensory exploration, he creates and recreates, meticulously carving the groundwork for beats, sensations, tones, both minimal and tremendous. Add to these layers the introspective workings of a badass songwriter, and you’re completely hooked by the grooves and the intrigue.
Makes plans for a fantastic early show tonight featuring Mobley at Spider House Ballroom, 2906 Fruth St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. This is one massive bill including Oxymorrons, Cure for Paranoia, and local duo Signy. This one comes very recommended.
