Your AMM host gave it a shot on today’s Austin Music Minute…and sounded mortifying. Pardonne mon français répréhensible, but it was just to say: C’est un chanteur francais, mais sa musique sonne tellement Austin! It’s true. Theo Lawrence, originally from Bordeaux, is as much a honey-voiced honky tonk crooner as you’ll get in country music, and here he is, smack dab in the middle of Texas, making magic. His is a timeless sound, though you’d swear any of the tracks on Lawrence’s latest LP Chérie were taken straight out of an old-school jukebox.
Catch Theo Lawrence at his show tomorrow night, Wednesday Nov. 22, at Sagebrush, 5500 S. Congress Ave. It’s an excellent line-up featuring songwriter Corb Lund, and Hayden Redwine. The music starts at 7 p.m. with Redwine, followed by Lund at 9 p.m., and Lawrence at 11 p.m.
