You notice something like this immediately in their workmanship: Borrisokane embraces the art of collaboration, which is exactly why their 6-EP project Versus is a gem worth exploring. Released last summer with provocative artwork by Shawn Magill and a case specially designed for the collection by Cogdut, the project features Borrisokane in an intriguing musical exchange with other local bands, such as Young Tongue, Major Major Major, KNIFIGHT, Yum and others. Borrisokane recorded versions of selected tracks by the other bands, and each of those bands, in turn, did the same with some of Borrisokane’s music.
After that whirlwind of activity, Borrisokane somehow still found time to work on their upcoming album, soon due for release with tour dates looming on the not-so-distant horizon. Make sure you see them play tonight at Cheer Up Charlie’s, 901 Red River. Rounding out the bill perfectly are Pittsburgh-based pop trio The Van Allen Belt, celestial psych group Moonsicles and alchemic goddess poet Francine 13. Get there after 8 p.m. to catch them all. Recommended.
