How much can one person do to better the world? Indoor Creature ponders this existential dread.

Indoor Creature single release show, Friday at Hotel Vegas, with Mockjaw and Midnight Navy.

It’s a hopeless feeling weighing the soul down to the point of mental paralysis. Can one person really make a difference in the grand scheme of things? Indoor Creature‘s Caleb Fleischer shifts the worldview inward on the band’s new single “Cross the Line,” an exploration of the internal conflict of confronting history’s atrocities while coming to terms with the harsh realities of the current-day world. And, though the subject matter is serious, somehow the uplifting vibrant melodies combining pop and jazz influences radiate a certain degree of hope, even as far-fetched as hope might feel.

“We wanted to capture the essence of grappling with the enormity of societal issues and personal ideals,” says Fleischer. “The song reflects those moments of despair and resignation that we all face at one point or another.”

Join Indoor Creature at their single release show presented by Howdy Gals tomorrow night, Friday May 17, at Hotel Vegas on E. 6th, featuring jazz/blues/soul/all genre-driven ensemble Mockjaw, and songwriter/saxophonist Midnight Navy on the bill. Doors at 9 p.m.
