Red River Cultural District’s Cultural Currents Public Exhibition & Walking tour, 1-6PM tomorrow along Red River.
This weekend, an awesome opportunity to explore the origins of Red River’s musical history unfolds with the launch of Red River Cultural District‘s Cultural Currents Public Exhibition & Walking Tour. Cultural Currents is the initiative created by RRCD, partnering with Downtown Austin Alliance, to preserve and celebrate the myriad cultural elements of this very history, from Red River’s earliest iteration shaped by German immigrants and Black entrepreneurs, to the live music and creative hub it is today.
Tomorrow from 1 to 6 p.m., Cultural Currents will offer a free self-guided tour of Red River that includes an art exhibit pop-up party at Chess Club; ticketed screenings of a new Emo’s documentary, produced by A Curious Mix Of People, at Swan Dive; and a local music showcase at 13th Floor presented by Howdy Gals, with alt.-rock fiends GOOD., badass “outrageously female” punk trio Subpar Snatch, neo-soul art rockers ll.uv.ii, and pop-rock artist Barb.
