Former KUTX Artist of the Month Palo Duro came into being from collaborative efforts between front man Michael Winningham (Gold Beach, an Austin Music Minute addiction) and producer Sam Cohen, back in 2012. What began as a song arrangement session turned into a flood of new ideas, song recordings, and a new line-up in Winningham’s band. All good. So good, in fact, that they released their first full-length, the funk-pop synth magic Ryou Cannon, on Dangermouse’s label, 30th Century Records. Damn.
KUTX is proud to present Palo Duro tonight at Stubb’s indoor venue, 801 Red River. They share the bill with two fantastic slices of heavenly pop glimmer, SMiiLE and Sun June. J’adore.
Doors open at 8 p.m. So recommended.
