Dead Meadow plays tonight at Far Out Lounge, with Christian Bland and The Revelators.
It was quite the international debut, though it hit a bit differently. Dead Meadow was rapidly getting attention for their widely acclaimed self-titled LP (2000), so much so that John Peel himself invited the band to BBC Radio One to record a session for his show. Of course, there arose a situation that nearly every budding band or music artist might relate to: Dead Meadow couldn’t afford to fly to London. So, they were the first band to record their Peel session outside of the legendary studios. Still, it spoke volumes about how impressed Peel was by their artistry.
LA-based Dead Meadow got its start in D.C. in 1998, powered by influences of ‘60s psych, ‘70s metal, and the DIY punk ethos of their hometown. Decades later, they’re still melting faces. Don’t miss their Austin show tonight at Far Out Lounge, with Christian Bland and The Revelators starting out the night. Doors at 6 p.m.
