It’s tough to pick a favorite on Holy Wave‘s Interloper, last year’s full length release on the Reverberation Appreciation Society label via Levitation, but your Austin Music Minute host definitely has her top-two selection: “Maybe Then I Can Cry” and the album’s dreamlike opener, “Schmetterling” (featured on today’s AMM). The expansive, luminous atmosphere undoubtedly comes from the band recording each song individually, giving meticulous attention to every layer of sound.
Holy Wave is performing at Levitation Fest this year (October 30), and later this month, they have a handful of tour dates coming up. But before that, Holy Wave plays tomorrow night, Thursday September 16, at Hotel Vegas, 1502 E. 6th St. They share the bill with Los Angeles band Peel Dream Magazine. The show starts at 8 p.m.
Following the show is an afterparty at 10:30 p.m. with sets by Austin-based artist Pale Dïan and LA-based artist Lauren Lakis.
