Dream In Blue

DARINBACK2018D

Seriously, the first track on The Ocean Blue‘s self-titled 1989 debut on Sire Records was the – hook. The opening chords of “Between Something and Nothing” (featured on today’s AMM) lead into not only one of the defining moments of dream pop as we know it, but it’s also this…mood. This cloudy-sky, blustery-wind, lonely-walk broody mood, practically savoring a recent heartbreak…

Follow-up LP Cerulean brought in more instant faves like “Ballerina Out Of Control,” as well as Beneath the Rhythm and Sound with “Sublime.” These days, The Ocean Blue is touring in support of their latest atmospheric pop offering, Kings and Queens / Knaves and Thieves (recommended – “It Takes So Long,” “Love Doesn’t Make It Easy on Us” and “All The Way Blue”) and the tour includes two Austin dates, Friday and Saturday, September 9 and 10, at 3Ten. As of this writing, Saturday night is sold out, but tickets are still available for Friday night’s show. ATX shoegaze outfit and AMM fave Blushing opens the show on both nights. Doors at 7:30 p.m.
