A tip o’ the hat to the singer-songwriter who’s spent most of his life on the road – more than 50 years of shaping his signature sound for the ears of the world. But take heed. These are no ordinary songs. These are the beautiful, brilliant stories of John Prine, some of the most influential pieces endlessly praised by his contemporaries, fellow songwriters of the highest caliber who admire the workings of the man’s mind. No one says it the way Prine does. No one.
It’s no surprise that this evening’s A Songwriters Tribute to John Prine is such a huge affair. Presented by The House of Songs, Graham Weber serves as host for 31 Austin artists who will perform their favorite Prine tracks tonight at Threadgill’s, 301 E. Riverside Dr., starting at 7 p.m. Proceeds from the show benefit the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM).
It’s a night to remember, thanks to an amazing catalogue built over a lifetime. Here’s to you, Mr. Prine. Recommended.
