KUTX has a bit of an historical connection with The Bright Light Social Hour, when you think about it. They were (technically) the first band to play in the radio station’s new home on W. Dean Keeton – even before the building was completed! Everybody was in hardhats…
Turn back the clock just a few years more to 2010, when BLSH unleashed their self-titled debut LP into the world. This explosive mix of southern rock, psych, soul, and funk grooves, with these sick riffs and licks all across the board, also translated into a pounding, unrelenting live experience.
It’s hard to believe that album came out eleven years ago. Now, long since out of print, the debut album is back as a special remastered anniversary release, which includes a lost track, and a bonus EP with four additional unreleased demos. Join BLSH for their rerelease show tonight, Saturday Nov. 6, at the Mohawk, 912 Red River, and the line-up feels like a family affair with special guests Megafauna, Chief Cleopatra, Jane Leo, and a DJ set by magical wizard Walker Lukens. Doors open at 7 p.m.
