The bedroom can be a great spot for recording your music. Get it done on your time, and put something together the moment you’re inspired. Omar “Cuco” Baños is among a league of bedroom-pop artists that got it done that way. Nothing uncommon about the method. But if one of your tracks blows up on social media, it can be explosive. For Baños, the vibe went from home recording in a socially distant universe to a big Coachella debut this year, and chatting with NME in London. Damn. Still, it’s not surprising when you spin Cuco’s 2019 debut Para Mí and now the latest, Fantasy Gateway. This is big pop destined to burst out of those four walls and into a bigger spotlight.
