For the Corn Lovers!

Quick – hide the family! It’s that time of year when a certain music festival rears its terrifying head…and it’s so punk rawk.

That’s right. It’s the 13th annual Austin Corn Lovers Fiesta, hosted by ATX/San Antone punk hoodlums and corn hustlers Hickoids. It also happens to have the same acronym as another big event coming up this weekend – but this one has more corn in it, I think.

The two-night fiesta shines a fiery spotlight on Saustex Records artists, with tomorrow’s line-up at The Lost Well in East Austin featuring New Zealand outfit Labretta Suede and The Motel 6 (“Teenagers Getting High” is on today’s AMM), Marla Vee and The Natural Born Stud$, Hickoids of course, Jesus Christ Superfly and more. Saturday at Sagebrush in South Austin has Hickoids returning for a set with Frontier Dan, plus Harvey McLaughlin, Cuntry Killers, Churchwood, a project by Jon Langford (Mekons) called The Return of Buck Hogarth, Jane Woe, Shandon Sahm, Jean Caffeine and more.

Doors open at 8 p.m. Friday at The Lost Well, 2421 Webberville Rd., and at 5 p.m. Saturday at Sagebrush, 5500 S. Congress Ave. Git you some, corn lover.
