FREE WEEK shows, including KUTX’s own Free Week line-up at Stubb’s indoor Venue.

This could be any given night in Austin – so many badass shows with sick line-ups at multiple venues. It’s okay if you don’t know all the bands; this is a gateway to musical discovery. But this weekend along the Red River Cultural District, there’s no cover at the door. Welcome to Free Week.

Free Week started in 2003 at the original (Austin) Emo’s location at 6th and Red River as a way of keeping the venue in the green during slower winter months. Decades later, it’s a citywide celebration with multiple venues participating, and local artists and music lovers rallying to support the scene.

It’s a perfect fit for Love Austin Music Month. Shows tonight include Paper Sister, Jet Cemetery and KUTX Artist of the Month alum J’Cuuzi at Elysium; Prehuman and SKLOSS at The 13th Floor; Los Desechos at Flamingo Cantina; and KUTX’s Free Week show at Stubb’s indoor venue, featuring an all-vinyl DJ set by KUTX’s Taylor Wallace, and performances by Lew Apollo, Paige Plaisance, Sweet Limb, CorMae and Blah Spa.

Find the complete listings for tonight’s and tomorrow’s Free Week madness at the Red River Cultural District’s website.

KUTX’s Love Austin Music Month coverage comes from Eldorado Café.
