Funny Tears

In many ways, the forthcoming full-length release by songwriter, vocalist and musician Michael Booher is a much-anticipated one. Booher was known mostly for his work as front man for local indie fave Zykos, from 2003 to ’08. Booher continued performing with other bands and writing songs after Zykos’ break up, but his solo project began to gel when he started working with producer Mike McCarthy (Heartless Bastards, And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead).

The new tunes on Funny Tears, set for an early release next year, feature some familiar voices contributing vocals, including Will Sheff (Okkervil River) and Michael Kingcaid (What Made Milwaukee Famous). Booher put a new band together (simply using his last name as their moniker) and are prepping for a couple of show dates early next month, one of which is an official FFFNites show Nov. 6th at Beerland.

You don’t have to wait until next month to see Booher, though! Catch them tonight at Hotel Vegas, 1501 E. 6th St., with Island Boy and Twinsmith. Get there around 9 p.m. Recommended.
