You may have heard your Austin Music Minute host mention “the soundtrack to your evening” on KUTX. Every Monday through Wednesday night, 8 to 11 p.m., one sweet Jack Anderson takes over the airwaves, with generous portions of funk, soul and hip-hop to get the nighttime party started. But there’s something more to your friendly neighborhood nighttime host than his radio DJ skills. He’s also Back Handerson, composer and sample-based hip-hop artist dropping all manner of badass beats on his latest album, High Horse Buckaroo. Don’t be fooled by the Wild West title; it’s a different trip-flow, less saddled-up buckaroo and more Buckaroo Banzai. BOOM. Oh, yes she DID.
Back Handerson celebrates the release of his new LP with a party tonight at Spider House Ballroom, 2906 Fruth St., with friends Sometimes A Legend, Retr0gRaDe, Apollo Greed, and a special DJ set by electronic artist/AMM mad fave Corduroi. Doors at 8 p.m. Don’t miss any of it. Recommended.
