Thee Sacred Soul‘s Got A Story To Tell is essentially their love letter to soul from the very start, with the smooth and dreamy “Lucid Girl” setting the tone. Song after song is a shot of everything that makes soul hit the way it does – sensual, beautiful, romantic, cool and timeless. Every groove is essential. The harmonies melt your heart away. Josh Lane‘s falsetto leaves you in a swoon. You can sit with this one on your turntable and let it sway you like a breeze.
Also, quick shoutout to No Depression for selecting what has to be one of – if not the – best track on the album, “My Heart Is Drowning”, an all-out tribute to the sound and vibe of Motown.
Thee Sacred Souls brings their Got A Story To Tell tour to the ATX tonight at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater. Doors at 7 p.m., with LA’s badass purveyors of rich Chicano soul Thee Heart Tones opening the show. Hell yeah. And do NOT miss the afterparty show featuring Austin artist Sisi on the inside stage at 10:30 p.m.
