Today’s Austin Music Minute heaps praises upon the ATX host-with-the-most, Denis O’Donnell, and rightly so. The proprietor of South Austin venue Sagebrush, O’Donnell is also a musician (East Cameron Folk Core 4-lyfe, and don’t leave out The Bread), big time music lover and music supporter, and all-around badass. And he’s continuing something of a tradition that began at his former E. 7th St. dive, Hard Luck Lounge. Annnd, in case you missed it: Shout-outs and praises are also in order for fellow musician/all-around badass who kept that swap lit and kicked it up several notches, Tate Mayeux (Mayeux and Broussard), leading those much-beloved Tater Tuesdays like a family affair.
The Hard Luck Song Swap now has a home every Tuesday night at Sagebrush, and this week, O’Donnell brings out the upright bass to host performances by Bear Ryan (featured on today’s AMM), Nick Fong (Loteria), and Lou Lewis (Rattlesnake Milk). The show starts at 10 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday March 29, at Sagebrush.
