Surely, as a music fan, you’ve listened to an album over and over again if it’s one of your favorites. If it’s an EP, it might be a tad frustrating because, although you may listen to it constantly, it may leave you wanting more. The Austin Music Minute finds this delicious quandary with local trio The Well and their EP, First Trip.
Because of it’s popularity, it’s been through three pressings. Simply put, it’s killer. Behold the doom metal defined by ancient tales and massive, thunderous riffs, grooves and gigantic bass work that, while occasionally getting The Well comparisons to classic metal bands, gives them rather a unique style of their own.
But fans need not worry. Ian Graham, Lisa Alley and Jason Sullivan have every intention of unleashing a full-length release in due time. The Well will kick off a big summer tour in support of this upcoming release, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, get your dose of The Well at their show tonight at Holy Mountain, 617 E. 7th St. They’ll share the bill with Houston-based space doom metal mind-crushers From Beyond. Doors open at 9 p.m. So very recommended. Don’t leave the earplugs at home.
