Honey Made Vibin’

Trey Karnes

Honey Made is a big band, nine members strong, and everyone brings something to the table. It’s no small task pulling it all together for recording, but by the autumn of 2022, they got down to business with producer Andre Moran at Cedar Creek Studio. It’s all worth mentioning because it was a far more collaborative experience for these sessions, having the band’s three vocalists present for a fuller dynamic, and involving the entire band in the mixing process.

Charge It To The Band Fund was also recorded live to capture as much of their live experience as possible. And in addition to their signature mix of funk, soul and R&B, it’s also their homage to ‘90s and early ’00s Southern hip-hop. But it’s also an observation of the uncertainty of having a musical career, from the perspective of the musicians navigating it. In the band’s own words: “All musicians know that during your journey in this industry everything doesn’t always go as planned. Don’t let that stop you. Charge those hits to the game and keep rolling. Get stronger. Keep kicking ass.”

To celebrate their new EP, Honey Made presents their release show tomorrow night, Saturday Nov. 18, at Skylark Lounge, 2039 Airport Blvd. The show starts at 10 p.m. If you get there early, catch sets by Leeann Atherton at 6 p.m. and The Reverent Few at 8 p.m.
