Perhaps you were one of the lucky ones who witnessed the debut before the official debut. It was a Friday night in February when Next of Kin broke metaphorical ground with the most magical of three-part harmonies on Mohawk’s indoor stage. Lili Hickman Waldon, Madison Baker and CAELIN performed to a enthusiastic crowd in that cozy room. Each an outstanding talent, Hickman Waldon is known for their work with pop outfit Flora and Fawna, as well as some sizzling solo singles; CAELIN has collaborated on rather swoon-worthy tunes with the likes of Mobley and Walker Lukens; and Baker’s songwriting has been wooing pop lovers since 2018 with a heartfelt exploration love, loss and coming of age.
This is not the trio to sleep on. Don’t miss Next of Kin’s premiere performance tomorrow night, Friday May 31, at Sagebrush, 5500 S. Congress Ave. It’s an outstanding line-up, featuring Angel White, touring in support of his debut album Ghost of the West, and Austin-based country/western duo Harry & Emmy.
