Perhaps folk is Langhorne Slim‘s first love, but there’s no denying the heavy influence of ’70s rock on his ninth studio release The Dreamin’ Kind, a good match for the kind of raw emotion the Nashville-based artist is known for.

“It felt like I was blowing some old shit up so I could plant some new flowers,” says Slim about his collaborative effort with Sam F. Kiszka (Greta Van Fleet). “I love folk music, but rock ‘n’ roll tickles the same part of my soul. I wanted to explore that.”

The Dreamin’ Kind tour brings Langhorne Slim to the ATX for a show tonight at Antone’s, with Nashville stoner rock outfit Laney Jones and The Spirits opening the show. Doors at 7 p.m.
