No bull. Just Bonnie Whitmore. And all badass.
Today, as we celebrate Texas artists during KUTX’s membership drive, the AMM shines the spotlight on musician, singer and songwriter Bonnie Whitmore.
For more than two decades, Whitmore has made a name for herself as both a solo performer, and playing alongside artists like Hayes Carll, Eliza Gilkyson, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Butch Hancock and many others. The passion is direct and no-nonsense, fierce and fabulous, not merely winsome heart-on-sleeve, but a vulnerability in bold bright neon visible from the next town. Whitmore’s poetry is a reclamation. Scar this heart, but know who the hell you’re dealing with. “So I’ll work on my reverie / The only one that hurts is me /And I don’t need to take your time / ‘Cause it’s just one more off my list / And we can seal it with a kiss,” Whitmore sings on today’s AMM-featured single, the title track to Last Will & Testament.
Join Whitmore for her next residency performance at 8:30 p.m. tonight, Tuesday Feb. 27 at The Continental Club Gallery, upstairs from The Continental Club on S. Congress Ave. And check out the posse of ultra-talented musicians known as Da’ Homies, playing at 10:30 p.m. Just…daaaaamn.
