Lauren Lakis album release show tomorrow at Hotel Vegas, with Warstories, Queen Serene and Jet Cemetery.
Lauren Lakis‘ debut on Ridingeasy Records, DEADLIGHTS, is more of a revelation than catharsis. It’s similar to Lakis’ work as a photographer, capturing the human experience through an expansive lens. In a rollercoaster ride of a life, she’s weathered more than her share of hopeful highs and heartbreaking lows; these days, the heart fluctuates between the deeply-felt loss of her mother, and absolute elation over her recent nuptials. But don’t mistake DEADLIGHTS for a grief album. This is the triumph of survival. “That loss, the experience of going through the absolute worst thing, there’s a freedom in that,” Lakis says. “There’s a liberation in that where I almost feel invincible.”
Lakis’ album release show is tomorrow night at Hotel Vegas, on a bill featuring San Antonio grunge/shoegazers Warstories, alt.-rockers Queen Serene and darkwave duo Jet Cemetery. Doors at 8 p.m.
