Yes, KUTX does celebrate local artists all year long, especially when it comes to the Austin Music Minute! But it’s great to be working with the City of Austin Music and Entertainment Division and the Austin Music Foundation during the month of February – which we’ve designated as Love Austin Music Month – to remind music fans to support local artists. Don’t forget to represent!
Today, the AMM recommends a tremendous opportunity for you to catch several local bands playing in one major hot spot over three nights in a row. International Pop Overthrow (IPO), a music festival with roots in Los Angeles but known worldwide, features some of the best pop and rock bands in various cities. IPO marks its sixth year in Austin with a three-day festival tonight through Saturday at the Mohawk, 912 Red River, featuring 20 bands, many of whom are based in the ATX, including Shivery Shakes, Tres Oui, The Soulphonics, Wiretree, Mount Pressmore, Gentlemen Rogues (featured on today’s AMM, and playing IPO tomorrow night at 11 p.m.), Burgess Meredith and more.
The music starts at 8 p.m. each night. Very recommended.
