In our continued celebrations of Love Austin Music Month, the AMM points a glaring spotlight at ATX-based songwriter/vocalist/guitarist Aaron Winston‘s pop-powered anti-folk project Russel Taine Jr. Not a person, but a band, though it did start as a solo endeavor. Now bringing along bassist Justin Winslow, drummer Wes Armstrong and lead guitarist/vocalist Dylan Hill for the journey, Winston amps up the vibe with a full-length debut, Tales, including previously released singles “Something You Said,” “Hurricane,” “Blue Jean Baby” and “Year and a Moon,” along with today’s AMM featured track “You Like.”
Catch Russel Taine Jr. at their tomorrow night, Thursday Jan. 19, at Swan Dive, 615 Red River. The bill includes sets by Kind Keith, Los Cósmicos, and Twisted June. Doors at 9 p.m.
