Make Way for The Shredders

Your friendly neighborhood Austin Music Minute maven is a bit late in the game on this one, but happy to help spread the word about this and upcoming shows presented by She Shreds here in Austin.

Founded by Fabi Reyna in Portland, OR, She Shreds Magazine was created to inspire future musicians by highlighting women guitarists and bassists from all over the world, and to raise awareness for underrepresented artists and further cultivate the presence of women in the music industry. They’ve featured up-and-coming artists at various showcases throughout the country, including a music series they coordinate once a month here in Austin at the Scoot Inn, 1308 E. 4th St. at Navasota.

This month’s show, happening tonight at 9 p.m., features local dreamy cinematic pop trio Belaire, and the proudly self-proclaimed unmanageable “pizza gospel” band Mom Jeans, plus a performance by She Shreds founder Reyna’s musical project Older Women. And remember to mark your calendar for these upcoming Shred shows: April 3, May 1, and June 5. Power to the women and their (musical) weapons of choice. Recommended.
