And now, another must-have is on the way for your music library. MIEN‘s much-anticipated second LP MIIEN (an extra ‘I’ this time) is set for release April 18, diving further into their boundless alchemic vision conflating the darker pulsations of ‘60s psych with modern sonic experimentation. Everyone in this band brings something to the kaleidoscopic tapestry: Rishi Dhir (Elephant Stone), Alex Maas (The Black Angels), John Mark Lapham (The Earlies), and drummer Robb Kidd (Golden Dawn Arkestra) make up the collaborative force building the distinctive expanse of haunted sound.
“It’s an organic process,” says Dhir about the band’s evolving creative journey. “A simple idea can become something monumental when we each put our stamp on it.”
It would be wise to catch MIEN’s hometown show tonight at The 13th Floor on Red River. Doors at 8 p.m., and Austin-based quartet Queen Serene opens the show. TV Eye provides the mind-bending lighting and live projections for an extra awesome experience. Oh hell yes.
