Mighty Otis

Change is inevitable, and, as Otis the Destroyer front man Taylor Wilkins recently put it, “a sometimes painful thing in bands, because the relationships built are deep.” There have been a few recent growing pains in Wilkins’ band, with a new line-up following the amicable departure of bassist Nick Joswick and drummer Jud Johnson. But all is well, and on good terms. Kyle Robarge, who worked with Wilkins before in Otis’ former incarnation, The Couch, has taken over bass duties, and Clellan Hyatt is now on drums.

With the new line-up comes a bunch of new music that Wilkins and his crew have been working on. You’re definitely hearing some of the new tunes from Otis the Destroyer at their show tonight at The Sidewinder (formerly the Red Eyed Fly), 715 Red River. Once again, it’s another fantastic bill featuring Ghostbunny, MCG, and The Bravo. Doors open at 9 p.m. The Austin Music Minute recommends getting there early to see the entire all-local line-up.
