There Goes The Dream marks a more personal chapter for Modern Color, all about growing up in the South Bay.
By the time the members of Modern Color got together, they’d already played with a number of other bands, so it became a journey of finding a collaborative voice all over again. Their exposure to different scenes, artists and experiences culminated with the recording of their latest, There Goes The Dream, an opportunity to share their stories about growing up in the South Bay. It became a more personal storytelling process in terms of songwriting.
“We really wanted to write and express ourselves a little more honestly – while simplifying our songwriting, having a little bit more fun, and…telling stories about growing up in this space, with music,” vocalist/guitarist Fleming Valenzuela told Anna Zanes of Alternative Press. “We’ve all been friends since middle school/high school, and we’ve had a lot of time together.”
Catch Modern Color tonight at The Parish, 501Brushy St. Doors at 7:30 p.m., with a line-up featuring Philadelphia rock/pop band Webbed Wing, LA dream rockers MILLY, and Melbourne shoegazers Garage Sale.
