More Escapes

Texas has a way of permanently etching itself on one’s heart. Fair enough to say about former Brothers and Sisters frontman Will Courtney, who journeyed from Austin to Los Angeles, Nashville, then worked as a music producer in Santa Fe before circling back to Dripping Springs to record his 2016 album, Planning Escapes. There’s no denying the Texas/Old West road-bound vibes throughout Courtney’s 10-track release.

This weekend, you have a chance to catch Courtney and his band The Wild Bunch playing Saturday night at Hotel Vegas, , 1501 E. 6th St., in a stellar line-up that includes The Crack Pipes and Knife in the Water. However, tonight’s as good a time as any to get your fix – Courtney plays this evening at The Continental Club, 1315  S. Congress, following sets by Jon Dee Graham and William Harries Graham & The Painted Redstarts. The Redstarts are on first at 9:30 p.m.

Hearts in the eyes. Both of these shows are on the Austin Music Minute’s highly-recommended list.
