Do not let the rainy weather dampen your plans for checking out the awesomeness that is Pennyfest 2016. The annual mini-music fest, curated by Penny Loafer PR, has another great list of local artists taking over both stages at Empire Control Room, 606 E. 7th. Doors are now open, and starting out the big event: Ghostbunny, Jack Ferrara, Scott Collins and Edison Chair.
Then the evening continues with performances by The Dirty Heat, Ruby the RabbitFoot, Good Field, Otis the Destroyer, Darkbird (featured on today’s Austin Music Minute), and Sharks in the Deep End. And the night wraps up with high-volume sets by Ume, Quiet Company and Riverboat Gamblers.
It’s an all-ages show. And you cannot resist the mighty shreds of Ume’s guitarist/vocalist Lauren Larson, the powerhouse performances of Quiet Company’s Taylor Muse, and – best spectator sport ever – Riverboat Gambler’s Mike Wiebe makin’ like a demented acrobat as he weaves from ceiling beam to ceiling beam. Or not. Maybe an amp leap. Flying over the crowd with a jet pack? Whatever it is, it’s going to be massive. Recommended.
